2008-09 - Continuing client support services

2006 - 2007 Ongoing work on SH 121 Toll Project PPP, financial details confidential.

2006 - Supported client in relation to successful substantial asset sale, details confidential.

2006 Financial assessments completed on 30 tenders under Consortium Agreement.  Talanworth leads the Consortium and client interface with this quasi UK government institution.

2005 Due diligence for acquisition and subsequent enhancement of operations of a number of UK waste treatment plants including development of Information Memorandum, oversight of financial model and presentations to financial investors.

2005 Early stage due diligence for acquisition of European power station.

2004-05 Led consortium making successful bid to be appointed to financial assessor panel. Identity of client is confidential.

2003/04 Gama Construction Ireland. Talanworth worked as an integral member of the project team to first achieve preferred bidder status and then to finance the construction of a new 400MW combined cycle gas turbine power generation plant in County Galway, Ireland costing in excess of €250m, financial close August 2004.

2004 Tynagh Energy mandate extended to provide financial modelling services to Gama Construction Ireland’s project company on a sub-contracted basis.

2003 International Bank (identity confidential) cash generation review at newly acquired utility investment, which has turnover in excess of £90 million in the UK. The mandate focused on billing, payment and collection procedures.

2003 Company formation, including appointing professional advisers, establishing accounting system, banking, design & production of web site, IT, professional indemnity and other insurance, and VAT registration.

ALSTOM Power, Paris

2002/03 European securitization of receivables €400m in Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden and UK.  Extended countries covered, set up training, IT, documentation and accounting changes necessary.

2003 Supported 6 Sigma Black Belt project in power business segment to improve cash generation.  6 sigma metrics established much faster and with improved buy-in from colleagues.

2003 Cash reporting to Group CFO of cash generation position for Sector (sales Euro 11 billion).

2003 Financial model developed to enable commercial executives to assess each transaction's balance between profit / cash and pricing / risk matrices.

2003 Assistance and support to cash generation team working developing procurement initiatives.

2003 Support for production of 2002/03 Management Discussion & Analysis for Group.

2002/03 Managed €1.2 billion cash generation programme for business with turnover of €12 billion. Cash targets were increased by 45%, a €200m improvement to ALSTOM’s net cash for 2002/03.  

2003 Arranged and led cash generation training for 25 units (80% turnover) highly profitable global services business (sales €3.6bn), co-designed training material, coached presenters. Units identified €100m cash release.

2002/03 Director of operating power station, Birecik Dam Hydro-electric 6 x 112MW, Turkey, representing ALSTOM and a co-investor. Managed international banking relationships for €800m debt facilities. Equity obligations restructured.  

2003 Due diligence analysis of terms of acquisition obtaining third party claim reduction in relation to UK power project contract for €12m.

1996-1998 Arranged in Paris, London, Hong Kong, Beijing and Nanning finance for first Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise (WFOE) Chinese 760 MW coal fired power station. Work included selection and management of financial advisers, management of production of financial model, model audit, tax, accounting and insurance advisers, client negotiations in Beijing and Nanning, lead arranger bank management, O&M arrangements, documentation, lenders' technical adviser support, syndication presentation in Hong Kong, loan drawings, model updates and monitoring / reports.

BZW Limited

1994/95 As Director, Project Finance started up Barclays’ PFI (Private Finance Initiative) lending capability and won mandates for ten (10) PFI projects, eight (8) water projects and six (6) railway mandates. Projects covered in Argentina, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, India, Oman, Pakistan, New Zealand, Thailand and UK.

1995 Financial proposal for main line upgrade and re-signalling project UK railways.

1994 Advised leading UK water utility in connection with international projects and invited to participate in the development of international strategy.

1993/95 As BZW Director, led the arranging bank groups supporting consortiums bidding for contracts for the Docklands Light Railway extension, DCMF Private Prisons and DBFO Roads.

1993 Barclays led Banking Group for £6.5 billion bid support as part of lead bank role for Channel Tunnel Rail Link bid.

1993/94 Negotiated the sale of loan notes to American bank, for Caribbean hotel, US virgin Islands to provide cost effective exit for Barclays from potentially troublesome lending (USD 48m), involving negotiations with hotel owners (based in Barbados) development of a cash flow model for the hotel and winning the support of the hotel’s management.

1993/94 Restructuring of specialist textile company - fast response dyer: Scotland. This included capital restructuring.  September 1993 (debt to equity conversion). Additional financial restructuring in 1994 assistance to Chairman and MD re identification of strategic trading partner and design of marketing information.

1994 Speaker for Water Project Development at Project Finance Conference, Athens.

1992 1,500 MW Hub River Power Project in Pakistan, declined Barclays’ participation as one of the Lead Arrangers following completion of extensive due diligence. 

1992 Quantity Surveyor client: successful project management bid on South East re-signalling Strategy, UK railways.
